What is Quai?
Quai Network is a pre-launch cryptocurrency. Quai is the first blockchain protocol that is simultaneously decentralized, censorship resistant, and infinitely scalable. Quai, in contrast to traditional cryptocurrencies, functions as a network of many interoperable blockchains braided together. Due to a breakthrough discovery that occurred during research on Proof-of-Work, Quai Network utilizes a new consensus mechanism, Proof-of-Entropy-Minima (PoEM), which eliminates all consensus-based forks, and enables all Quai nodes to remain in “perpetual consensus.”

In this quote, Quai Network co-founder and Dominant Strategies CEO shares the Dominant Strategies team’s excitement to be back in a live Testnet. The Iron Age Testnet officially launched on September 19th, welcoming node operators and GPU miners from around the world.
While the early stages of Testnet are focused heavily on onboarding nodes and GPU miners, the latter stages of Testnet will welcome developers and users. If you don’t have a machine/don’t want to spin up a node/mine, stay tuned! There’s much more coming down the pipe for the Iron Age Testnet.
Technical Term of the Week
Iron Age Testnet – the third of 5 planned Testnets before Quai Network’s Mainnet launch. The Iron Age Testnet is primarily intended to test Quai Network’s new consensus mechanism, Proof-of-Entropy-Minima (PoEM).
This week, the Iron Age Testnet officially launched. The Iron Age is an important milestone for the Quai protocol that has been under development since the conclusion of the Bronze Age Testnet in March 2022.
The Iron Age Testnet is designed to test the new PoEM consensus mechanism, GPU mining, syncing/node operation, and more. Metrics and issues from this Testnet will be used to change and improve the protocol both in-flight and for future Testnets/Mainnet.
While plenty of internal testing has been done to ensure the reliability of Iron Age Testnet code, there are many issues that only reveal themselves at scale – finding and resolving these issues as the Testnet progresses is crucial to a successful Testnet.
